AmeriCorps is in jeopardy.
Like so many other critical programs and services, AmeriCorps is at risk of being dismantled by DOGE, with programs shuttered and 85% of agency staff now on administrative leave.
As a result, nearly 40,000 communities across the nation may lose their capacity to combat hunger and homelessness, respond to natural disasters, tutor students, connect veterans to services, fight the opioid epidemic, and so much more.
At a moment when our country has become the most age-diverse society ever, AmeriCorps is a beacon for what young and older Americans can do together, and proof that service can – and should – be a lifelong pursuit.
The opportunity to serve side-by-side with younger and older AmeriCorps members throughout my career at Experience Corps and CoGenerate changed my life and profoundly shaped my view of what it looks like to dedicate myself at every life stage to community change.
Please take a minute to tell your members of Congress to protect AmeriCorps, using this tool from Voices for National Service.
